Escape Rooms for Kids started in March 2020, just before lockdown hit the UK. I was a Teaching Assistant in a Year 6 classroom (that’s the same as Grade 6 in the US and Canada), and we were preparing for a series of standardized Year 6 tests that happen every May.
I had just created a fun homework exercise for the kids in my class to practice for the test questions. I was so pleased that I had made that homework assignment, because when school shut down that week, I was able to offer it in a few Facebook groups of distressed parents who didn’t know how long their kids would be out of school.
They loved it, their kids loved it, and I had many requests for more. So I made more!
For all my escape rooms, I’ve used my knowledge from the classroom, coupled with my love of games, to create printable, no-setup-required, no-materials-required activities that are screen-free.
